HOW LONG HAS THE LASER EYE TREATMENT BEEN AVAILABLE?

The history of refractive laser surgery began in 1983 with the development of the Excimer lasers. The first laser eye treatment using the PRK (Photorefractive Keratektomy) method was performed in 1986. LASIK is a further development of this original method and has established itself since the early 1990s. The so-called LASEK method has been available since 1999 as an alternative for patients who are not suitable for the LASIK procedure.
